It's my birthday!

It's been a really long time we haven't eaten at Ichiban Boshi. Since my birthday is just round the corner, Daddy suggested we eat there last week 16 Feb. The kids were exhilarated over the Japanese food.

New water bottle always increases water intake. We had tried this bottle a month or so ago but Keren couldn't drink from it. Maybe she just didn't have big enough sucking power then. Now she's great at it!
Today also marks the day where Keren had her first full meal outside off the rack! Nothing by mommy..
While Mommy collected her hair accessories that were sent for repair, the kids had a cheery time helping themselves to the many cute hair bands. Just look at Abel! What a pretty boy I have!

On the day itself, Daddy bought a cake.
And this surprise gift which he came up with while Mommy was away for tuition.
Flowers from Daddy and a very dear friend. Flowers really brighten my day..heehee...
A little gift from a neighbour who is ever so thoughtful. Really it's the thought that counts!

18 months!

Yes, Keren's now 18 months! She can do so many things and a real handful these days. Not only has she grown in terms of her motor and verbal skills, she has also become more expressive and emotional.

She would just be stacking blocks and pulling at everything she can get her hands on.

Mommy as usual have her hands full and can't be sitting at her side. Sometimes she simply has to just sit in her chair while Mommy coaches Jie Jie and Kor Kor. So what does she do in her chair?
(a) Learning to scoop
When scooping gets boring, she pours her beans from one bowl to another. Otherwise, it's hands on, picking the beans.
(b) Doodling with pencils and crayons.

(c) Learning to peel and paste stickers.

(d) Tearing and shredding paper/ crepe paper and trying to roll them into a ball.
(e) Fitting shapes into stand.
(f) Threading shapes into a string.
(g) Trying to take pegs off but she's still working on this. She simply just pulls them off rather than take them off the proper way.

These days, she simply loves carrying little bags. Trying very much to imitate an adult, going around with her bag, putting it down to get a drink and pack it back to move on next.
Child Labour? Looking familiar?
She goes around the playground and on her walks chasing after birds and cats. She's never afraid to go near them.
She too had her first hair cut by Mommy just 2 weeks before Chinese New Year at about 17.5 months. A little too short but nonetheless Mommy's maiden trim for her and only her as I never did it for the other kids. Daddy said she looked like playmobil!

Something we noticed about her amazing motor skill was that she started to undress herself when suited in a full suit for the night. Can't remember exactly when it started, whether it was 17 or 18 months, she started to unbutton herself and even take off her diaper! As we usually let her settle herself to bed in the cot, we found her half naked after she fell asleep! Something the other two never did! Each child is just so unique.

Emotive as she now also seeks for attention. She is no longer satisfied sitting on my lap while I read to the older two. She will grab a book and insist I read to her. She will smack her siblings if she doesn't get what she wants or that they are playing with what she likes. Yes, a very insistent girl in doing things her way. Guess the discipline starts. Amazingly she knows where the quiet corner is from watching the older two. Thus, she will run to it when we tell her that she had not obeyed and naughty though not trying there for more than 10 sec. She will protest a great time and kick on the floor when we put her in the play yard and start throwing every toy out. Terrible twos ahead.

Taking a break..Beach Time

As usual, the second day of Chinese New Year is always our family time together after a busy day of visitation on the first day.

We slept till we all stirred naturally. For a change, we didn't go to the zoo as we always did for the past 2 years. We headed this time to the beach for sand and water play!

We kicked start the day with our favorite Carl's Junior for breakfast!
Keren had already had hers at home so we gave her little biscuits. She's happy.
Well, Daddy decided to just let her try some 'real' food and gave her a hash brown. The very first time taking fast food. The verdict. Oooooo….all too good…"why I had to wait so long for this?" Thereafter as all who expect, she didn't want her biscuits anymore.
Love the funny expressions of my kids. Cheeky Abel...
Great companionship!
The kids had real fun trying to build a wall to stop the rising waters together with their dad!
Keren was quite happy on the mat watching. She did dig some sand with her bucket and spade for awhile but …..
Guess what happened? The rising tide washed over her feet and she cried big time! She sure didn't like the waves...

Chinese New Year…It's a Sssssnake Year!

As usual, we had a great big reunion at my in laws with the extended family. It's steamboat dinner this year with loads of food!
After the ever so filling dinner and catching up with the cousins, we headed home. All dressed in their new PJs, we retired for the night on their new sheets!
It was a little hurried this year as it fell on a Sunday where we had to go for church before rushing off to grandaunt's place for the annual meet up. 4 generations under one roof.
It's a time when the kids had the most fun!
And of course, Keren was just so happy with the mobility to move around and explore new tastes!
